UNIQUE SURGICAL PROCEDURE NOW AVAILABLE IN WESTCHESTER
Dr. Michael Werner Offers No-Scalpel, No-Needle Vasectomies
Purchase, N.Y. – February 07, 2006 – Dr. Michael A. Werner has introduced no-scalpel, no-needle vasectomies, performed in his suite of offices. Dr. Werner is a board-certified, fellowship-trained urologist, specializing in male infertility and sexual dysfunction.
“We wanted to offer patients the least-invasive, most comfortable procedure possible, said Dr. Werner. “The no-scalpel, no-needle vasectomy is a unique and nearly-painless technique for permanent male sterilization.”
Rather than using a scalpel, the procedure uses a special clamp to isolate the vas deferens. A special clamp is then used to make a tiny puncture and stretch the opening so the vas deferens can be reached. They are pulled through the hole one at a time and cut and blocked. Unlike a conventional vasectomy there is very little bleeding and scarring and no stitches are required.
Few physicians currently perform the no-scalpel vasectomy, and even fewer have the expertise necessary to perform the procedure without the use of needles. Using a high pressure spray, anesthetic is pushed through the skin and into the tissue surrounding the vas deferens. It is virtually painless and delivers less anesthetic, with no bruising or bleeding.
Dr. Werner is also one of the few doctors that perform a vasectomy accompanied by a board-certified anesthesiologist. “Men get squeamish when a surgeon is operating on their reproductive organs,” explains Dr. Werner. “The anesthesiologist monitors the patient throughout the procedure and ensuring minimal discomfort with the utmost in safety.”
Recovery from the no-scalpel, no-needle vasectomy is very easy. Most men return to work the next day, or on Monday when the procedure is performed on a Friday. “Many of my patients tell me the recovery from certain dental procedures has been more difficult,” explains Werner. Tenderness, swelling and bruising are minimal. In addition, serious complications are rare.
